In the beginning .........

.............the (Canadian) NHL Boston Bruins Hockey team was founded in 1924 , becoming the first american based NHL team . after charles f. adams reportadly paid canadian officials $15,000 for the right to do so . Untill 1928 the team played there games at boston arena ( now mathews hall on the northeastern campus ) when on nov. 20 of that year , for the first time the B's laced up at the "GAHDEN" at north station.They got there first drink from lord stanley's cup in the 1928-29 season . led by coach ralph "cooney" weiland who centered aubrey "dit" clapper and dutch gainor and on the line the great eddie shore ( who once played and won the game with frost bite) and another great bruin lionel hitchman and in the net minding the five holes was legandary cecil "tiny" thompson .This story was told to me by a friend of mine in boston about 15 years ago . and now i give it to you . it's cool how they all used to have nicknames . i had one . "hey get off the ice" "loser" . i can't skate ...... :)
